The Untamed is presently, the most successful BL movie of all time with over eight billion views world wide.

The series was adapted from the popular bl novel Mo dao Sushi written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The book also has an animated series but obviously, the drama was more successful.

The Untamed stars Sean Xiao and Wang Yibo. The drama propelled the both of them to international super stardom.

About the series

The Untamed tells the story of Wei Wuxian. A lively bright and cheerful young man. He was an orphan adopted into the Jiang family. He grows up with his two adoptive siblings. A time comes and Wei Wuxian travels with his siblings to the Gusu Lan clan to study.

While there, he encounters Lan Wangji famously known as the second Jade of Lan clan. Lan Wangji is cold as ice and due to their different personalities, their first meeting doesn't go down well. However, with time, Wei Wuxian is able to break down the walls of Lan Wangji and they become closer but tensions rising in the cultivation world tests their friendship.

My Thoughts

The Untamed is a must watch for everyone. The novel is originally bl but due to China censorship, certain scenes weren't filmed and the series had to settle for a brotherhood friendship theme.

However, despite the censorship, The Untamed was able to show us great chemistry between the two main Characters and that was the best thing about this series. The chemistry was so good that it was so much better than any kissing or intense romantic scenes they could have done. The way they looked at each other, the way they protected each other, all that was more than enough to tell us viewers how they really felt about each other.

The acting was on point and even though most of the casts were new actors, they all did an amazing job. I highly recommend this movie to everyone.
